JIGGENS: Time to move on from the Will Smith thing
Enough, already. The fallout from the Will Smith-Chris Rock face-slapping incident at the 2022 Academy Awards ceremony in March is starting to get old. This happened six weeks ago, and not a day has gone by since then that this hasn’t been in the news in some way, shape or form.
JIGGENS: Olympics had plenty of drama, and some of it was because of the location
Another Olympiad has come and gone, and, once again, the Games had its share of soap opera-like drama and controversy. Can the Olympics – winter or summer – ever play out without squabbles over rules violations, doping, biased judging, questionable changes in nationality or other head-scratching matters?
JIGGENS: Treating every day as if it might be your last
I can’t wait. That three-word expression is something I gave up saying long ago. Knowing there are fewer days ahead of me than I’ve left behind doesn’t inspire me to want to push the fast forward button so that I can immediately escape winter or play my first round of golf in 2022 or begin my summer vacation right away.
JIGGENS: Grandparents reach for board games while grandkids watch video games
We recently had our grandkids spend a week with us during their extended school hiatus so that Mom and Dad could enjoy a bit of a break. In general, it was an enjoyable time, but we found a grandparent’s definition of fun doesn’t seem to be shared by that of a grandchild.
