Access may be granted after June 8 if there are no weather delays
The Town of Tillsonburg announced on Thursday that effective immediately, the Annandale Ball Diamonds will be closed until construction is completed on Concession Street East.
For safety reasons, there will be no public access on the grounds until further notice.
All booked use and seasonal contracts for the Annandale Ball Diamonds have been cancelled and contracts will be reissued with amended dates and fees once they are confirmed.
“Despite our best intentions to provide continued safe access to the ball diamonds during reconstruction, it has become clear that there are major safety liabilities to the players,” said Rick Cox, Director of Recreation, Culture and Parks for the Town of Tillsonburg, in a media release.
“I recognize the impact that this will have on user groups and I am prepared to address any questions or concerns,” he added.
The reconstruction project will proceed as quickly as possible, and if there are no further weather delays, access to the parks may be re-established after June 8.
Town staff will continue to provide updates on their website, Facebook page and in The Tillsonburg News.
The Programs and Facilities Registrar has compiled information about alternative diamond availability in nearby towns and can make that information available upon request.
