16-year-old arrested for theft

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft in progress call in Tillsonburg at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

A witness reported observing a male youth going through the donation bins at back entrance of a business located on Tillson Avenue. The youth was observed taking items before he fled the area on a bicycle.

Police stopped the male a short distance away and he was arrested. The stolen items included clothing, and various other small items.

The 16-year-old male youth from Tillsonburg was charged with, 'Theft Under $5,000' and released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.

Break-and-enter at Backus Heritage Conservation Area

The Ontario Provincial Police, Norfolk County Detachment investigated a recent break and enter at Backus Heritage Conservation Area, 2nd Concession Road, South Walsingham.

On Friday, Sept. 1 at approximately 7:25 a.m., police received a report of a break and enter, and through the course of investigation, it was determined that in the early morning hours unknowns gained entry into a gatehouse located on the property. Once inside, a safe was removed containing a quantity of Canadian currency.

Norfolk County OPP Detachment is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact police 1-888-310-1122.

Irrigation piping damaged

OPP Norfolk County Detachment is investigating an act of mischief on Walsingham Townline Road, South Walsingham.

On Monday, Sept. 4, at approximately 1:47 p.m., police were contacted by a concerned resident reporting a mischief. Through the course of investigation, it was determined that in the early morning hours, unknowns on All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) ran over irrigation piping causing extensive damage.

Damage is estimated at approximately $2,000.

The Norfolk County OPP Detachment is continuing to investigate and is seeking the public's assistance. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

The OPP want to remind all residents that if they see anything suspicious to please contact the police. If anyone is found committing acts of mischief, appropriate charges will be laid.

Police investigate lawnmower theft

OPP Norfolk County Detachment investigated a reported break and enter at Norfolk County Road 21, North Walsingham. On Monday, Sept. 4, at approximately 5:40 p.m., police were contacted by a concerned homeowner.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that in the afternoon hours, unknowns removed a push lawnmower that was located at the side of the residence.
