Let's hope that we are done with this rain for awhile and hopefully we can start to experience some more comfortable and warmer temperatures in the coming weeks!

This weekend several local teams will be traveling to Dorchester for one of the major events at Slo-Pitch City this summer. Also a handful of local players will be competing in the Super Series circuit in London. Good luck to all!

Ladies A

Service Master almost handed Corey's Restaurant their first loss after a late four run rally only to fall short by one.

Indigo Lounge stayed just one game back of first after defeating Jays in a close one 6-5.

Centre Point Contractors recorded the other division victory defeating Pitch by eight.

Corey's Restaurant 12, ServiceMaster 11

Corey's - Jill Barnim (3-4), Kirby Steinhoff (3-4)

ServiceMaster -Tracy VanPuymbroeck (4-4), Cheryl Johnson (3-3)

Janet Culliton's triple and Tab Moulton's double were the only extra base hits for Corey's.

Centre Point Contractors 13, Pitch 5

Centre Point - Jen Lee (3-3), Kerry Jensen (3-3)

Pitch - Ange Fast (3-3), Kristen Cornellie (2-2)

Centre Point put six across in the first and fifth innings.

Indigo Lounge 6, Jays 5

Indigo - Tena Bueckert (3-4), Jen Mowatt (2-3)

Jays - Mary Froese (3-4), Melissa Hughes (3-4)

It was a low scoring affair throughout, Tena Bueckert scored Indigo's winning run in a two run seventh.

Ladies B

Steelerz won a close one over Energy Productions despite playing with only eight. Shady Acres with some seasoned veterans in their line-up easily beat Boston Pizza in a six run mercy.

Nicole Brandon had a pair of doubles for Steelerz.

Shady Acres 17, Boston Pizza 2

Shady Acres - Randi Williams (4-4), Karen Horvath (4-4)

Boston Pizza - Heidi Hopper (2-3), Kim Avey (1-2)

Randi Williams scored four runs to lead Shady Acres. Ashley Aker had three.

Men's A

There is but one unbeaten left in the division after GC Lounsbury recorded a big win over Haines Roofing on Friday night. They defeated Hounds earlier in the week. IC Waters were edged out by Robert Q Travel also on Friday leaving GC as the only unbeaten team. They had mercied Kekambas on Tuesday night. Hounds picked up their first victory of the season winning by eight over the winless Roosters.

Thom Puhr drove in five runs for the winners.

IC Waters 17, Maple View Variety 6

IC - Darren Swick (3-4), Eric Lockey (3-3) Hr, Aaron Laporte Grand Slam, Shawn Crane Hr

Maple View - Nathan Klassen (2-3) Hr, Ian Baker (3-3)

IC Waters broke this one open with a seven run sixth. Aaron Laporte hit a grand slam in the rally.

Hounds 15, Roosters 7

Hounds - Chris MacDonald (3-4), Chris Howick (3-4), Barry Howick Hr

Roosters - Tony Laur (3-3), Greg Buchner (2-3)

Hounds leadoff batter Barry Howick homered and scored three runs.

Robert Q Travel 10, IC Waters 9

Robert Q - Josh Stubbs (4-4), Billy Wilson (3-4) Hr

IC - Mike Shewan (4-4) Hr, Chris VanParys (3-3)

IC Waters scored five in their last at-bat but Robert Q was able to escape with the win. Billy Wilson was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

GC Lounsbury 12, Haines Roofing 8

GC - Kent Collings (3-4), Trevor Stuyt (3-4)

Haines - Kevin Harrop (3-4), Phil Durham (3-4)

GC Lounsbury led throughout, and had a big five-run fourth.

Men's B

The Diamond Dogs handed Ward's their first defeat doing it in convincing fashion. Ward's had recorded a whitewash of Pelicans on the Tuesday. The East Elgin Spartans unleashed their powerful offence showing no mercy towards Corey's Restaurant.

Wine and Beer Shop came from behind to edge out Nancy's Variety in the only close game in the division.

Pelicans - Adam Jensen (1-3), Tyler Danbrook (2-3)

Connor Smith pitched the shutout, homered and scored three runs for Ward's.

Wine and Beer Shop 15, Nancy's Variety 14

Wine and Beer - Tyler Marr (4-5), Doug Hawke (5-5)

Nancy's - Derek Kunderman (4-4), Adam Swance (3-3), Dan McRae Hr, Shane Hall Hr, Chad Lofthouse Hr

Wine and Beer walked this one off with Chevy Fisher driving in the winning run in a seven run bat around seventh.

Diamond Dogs 21, Ward's Automotive 4

Ward's - Devin Sebok (1-2), Ryan Dayman (1-2)

Everyone in the winner's line-up scored at least one run. Ross Groat led with seven runs batted in.

East Elgin Spartans 27, Corey's Restaurant 6

East Elgin - Martin Klassen (4-4) Hr, Jacob Enns (4-4), Jake Klassen Hr, Abe Krahn Hr, Johnny Klassen 2 Hr

Corey's - Jason Ashton (3-3) 2 Hr, Justin Clapdorp (3-3) 2 Hr

Johnny Klassen homered twice while driving in seven and was a double shy of hitting for the cycle for East Elgin.

Men's C

It was Hammer Time last week as the squad knocked off previously unbeaten Brad Cole Construction Orioles to tighten up the standings in the C loop. Hit N Run won a big one over Boston Pizza to pull into a tie for first. Boston Pizza easily won their second game over McKenzie Carquest. John Beere held on for a victory over Falcons.
