What's Happening at the library

Free Comic Book Day

Saturday, May 6, 10-11:30 a.m.

Join us at the Tillsonburg Library Saturday to celebrate Free Comic Book Day. Dress as your favourite comic book character (encouraged but not mandatory) and partake in exciting superhero-themed activities. All children will receive a free comic! All ages welcome, no registration required.

The Wars of the Roses with Stephen Bourne

Thursday, May 11, 7 p.m.

In the turbulent history of the English speaking peoples, there have been few conflicts to match the dynastic power struggle of the 15th century that we call The Wars of the Roses. This century-long civil strife saw the end of the Plantagenet dynasty and the emergence of the Tudor era. Local historian and author, Stephen Bourne, will present this sequel to his first presentation in the series, Murder & Mayhem in the 15th Century: The Cold Case of Richard III.

This free event requires registration and is sure to be popular. Please contact the library at 519-842-5571 to reserve your space!

Teen Henna Workshop

Wednesday, May 17, 6 p.m.

Learn all about Mehndi, the art of henna temporary tattooing. Participants will design their own tattoos, and will take part in the application process. This is a free workshop for teens, but pre-registration is required, either at the desk or by emailing mberry@ocl.net as space is limited! Parental permission is also required.

Adult Henna Workshop

Wednesday, May 17, 7:15 p.m.

This program is for adults only. Learn all about Mehndi, the art of henna temporary tattooing. Participants will design their own tattoos, and will take part in the application process. Teen Hackerspace

Wednesday, May 24, 4-8 p.m.

This program is for teens 12-plus. No registration required. Drop in anytime to tinker with our tech toys and gadgets, learn to code or build an app, work on a tech project, whatever you can imagine! We'll provide the tech and materials, so come in to learn and play!

The Wish Tree Event - Rescheduled!

Thursday, May 25, 11 a.m.

Canadian author Kyo Maclear's book, The Wish Tree, will be featured at this storytime reading and a draw will be held at each event for a free copy of The Wish Tree. Lots of fun activities to partake in, too! This is a free family program.

DIY Mason Jar Terrariums

Saturday, May 27, 1 p.m.

This free event is for teens 10-plus, but space is limited so register early! Please bring your own mason jar, the bigger, the better! You will create your own mason jar terrarium to take home.(The library will have a few jars on hand for participants, if required). Contact the library to reserve a spot at 519-842-5571.

Friends of Tillsonburg Public Library Book Sale

Saturday, June 3, 9:30-1:30 p.m.

Stop by the library's program room to pick-up your next great read for a great price! All proceeds go towards children's programming at the library. See you there!
