Do you ever get the feeling life is just getting away from you?

I am always going to get at something, after something else. You know what I mean. Once Christmas is over I will get at those closets. In the New Year that garage is going to get cleaned out. Valentine’s Day, Family Day, and Easter are all excuses for not getting at things that need doing. There are a bunch of birthdays this month so I will get at it when I get those out of the way. After the annual general meeting and open house I will be free to do that. Once I get my income tax done - oh, yeah, I still have to do that - I will start getting ready for the yard sale.

It seems I am always waiting until something else is over before I get at the things that really need doing. I have learned to not plan for big things like garage clean out or painting the bedroom. I just do little bits of things here and there and before you know it things are done without the big drama or hard work. I just break it all down into manageable parts and not worry about when it gets done. Might take a week instead of a day but who cares, right? I have to leave lots of time for fun things and would never give up anything I want to do because of things that “need” doing. Whatever it is always waits for me.

Got this email a week or so ago and it reminds us that the having the cleanest house or greenest grass on the block is not what makes for a happy life.

Philosophy 101

As we grow older and wiser we realize a $300 or $30 watch both tell the same time.

Whether we carry a $300 or $30 purse, the amount of money inside is the same.

Whether we drink a bottle of $300 or $30 wine, the hangover is the same.

Whether the house we live in is 300... 3,000... or 30,000 square feet, the loneliness is the same.

Whether we fly first or economy class, if the plane goes down we go down with it.

Whether we fly first or economy class, when the plane reaches its destination, everyone arrives at the same time.

We realize true happiness does not come from material things of this world.

Therefore we should realize having mates, buddies, old friends, brothers and sisters, with whom we chat, laugh, talk and sing is true happiness.

Six best doctors in the world: sunlight, rest, exercise, diet, self-confidence and friends.

And finally, the nicest place to be is in someone’s thoughts. The safest place to be is in someone’s prayers.

Just makes you feel good, doesn’t it?
