It may lack the glitz of the cancelled Relay for Life, but its purpose is exactly the same. The Great Ride 'n' Stride exists to raise money for the ongoing war against cancer.
The Relay was a tremendous success in Tillsonburg, thanks to the hard work of dedicated volunteers. We are grateful for what they have accomplished.
We hope that those interested in continuing their efforts to fight cancer and supporting its victims might consider joining in the 48th annual Ride 'n' Stride on Sunday, April 30.
There is no fee. No guaranteed sponsor levels. It involves only an easy afternoon trek around Lake Lisgar by foot, bike, skateboard, etc. Enter as an individual, as a team or as a family. Wear a costume if you like and help create some fun.
The event's success, of course, does rely on the amount of sponsorship each participant manages to achieve. What you net is the bottom line for any fundraising event.
Over the years Ride 'n' Stride costs have been covered by our volunteers so that all money raised has gone to the Canadian Cancer Society.
This year some of the Relay sponsors have continued as Ride 'n' Stride supporters. Marwood Metal Fabrications Ltd. is our presenting sponsor, with B&B Graydon Enterprises Ltd., Green Lea Ag Centre Inc., East Elgin Concrete Forming Ltd., and Verne's Carpet One as supporting sponsors. Their donations will be added to the funds raised.

Of course, you are always welcome to join the Tillsonburg branch of the Canadian Cancer Society and help expand its efforts to support research, education and patient services.
The war against cancer is ongoing, but battles are being won. In 2015-2016 the C.C.S. invested some $44 million in over 350 leading-edge research projects.
Through such efforts, we have seen cancer survival rates increase from 25 per cent in the 40s to over 60 per cent today.
Some cancers now have extremely good survival rates. For example: prostate cancer with a net survival rate over five years of 95 per cent; testicular cancer 96 per cent; and breast cancer 87 per cent.

Rotary Club of Tillsonburg
This letter is to thank the Rotary Club of Tillsonburg for their thoughtful donation of exercise equipment located on the walkway going from town through Hickory Hills.
As a frequent user of the walkway, I often stop at the equipment located on the walkway at Quarter Town Line and get some exercise. I'm sure many others do the same.
Please know that you are very much appreciated for your kindness. Our service clubs do a lot for our town and too often are not thanked for what they do.
