Snap Fitness raises funds for Alzheimer Society

The 24-hour Workout to Fight Alzheimers, Silent Auction and Coffee Break at the Snap Fitness Tillsonburg 24/7 fitness centre raised over $350 during the week of Nov. 21-26.

The funds will stay in the Tillsonburg area to help the Alzheimer Society of Oxford provide resources, information and support for local residents.

Snap Fitness Tillsonburg manager Nick Karpouzos worked to help raise funds by holding three events during the week.

During a 24-hour Workout members and non-members used pledge sheets as they worked out during the fundraising week individually or teams of six to reach a goal of 24 total hours of exercise. Most took the week to accumulate the 24 total hours.

Local businesses and Snap Fitness members donated prizes and items for the Silent Auction. Bidding ended Saturday at noon.

Snap Fitness provided supplies for the Coffee Break and people donated whatever they could in exchange for the coffee.

It was the first year for the fundraiser in Tillsonburg. Three other Snap Fitness gyms in Ontario also did the same fundraiser simultaneously. Snap Fitness Huntsville raised $650, while Snap Bracebridge raised $1,200 and Snap Fitness Port Perry raised $100 for their local Alzheimer Societies.

"We want to thank the Tillsonburg community for their great support!" said Snap Fitness Tillsonburg owner Sanford Long in a media release.
