It is that time of year again when the Royal Canadian Legion Tillsonburg Branch 153 is very busy preparing for the 2016 Poppy Campaign. This year’s campaign runs from October 28th to November 10th.

The 2015 campaign was very successful thanks to donations from many local business and the generosity of the public when they make a donation to one of the many poppy boxes located throughout our community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to last year’s campaign as we raised in excess of $19,000. This was used to assist veterans, their widows, and dependents. These monies also supported youth activities and scholarships.

This year we donated to the Veterans’ Arts Program and the Veterans’ Care and Comfort Fund. We supported Meals on Wheels, did some minor repairs at the cenotaph, supported the local Cadet Squadron, and hosted a luncheon for Parkwood Institute Veterans.

Anyone who would like to assist on this year’s campaign by volunteering at a table located in local stores and mall may contact the branch office at 519-842-5281.

All are welcome to attend the Remembrance Day Service at 10:45 a.m. to be held at the cenotaph located in front of The Tillsonburg Town Centre mall at 200 Broadway. The service will be preceded by the Silent Walk at 10:30 a.m. from the Rolph and Bridge Street intersection.

Thank you again to the local businesses and the public for your support in the past and we look forward to your participation in our 2016 Poppy Campaign.

Yours in Remembrance,

Don Burton, Poppy Chairman
