The spring and summer seasons are a distant memory as we are well into autumn. As you read this, the eight large, dramatic planters which graced Broadway Street have been removed.

The Beautification Working Group (a sub-committee of the Heritage, Beautification & Cemetery Advisory Committee) was responsible for the implementation of these planters. We members heard many very positive and favourable comments from many townspeople. Indeed, with only one small case of vandalism, the flowers grew and thrived throughout the year - a testament to our citizens’ appreciation of this floral display.

On behalf of the committee, I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to both the Knights of Columbus and Tillsonburg Garden Gate Ltd. for their generous financial donation in support of Tillsonburg beautification. Each donated four urns that looked so fabulous through the course of the nearly three seasons.

Another thanks to the Tillsonburg Horticultural Society for their financial assistance in helping to water and nourish the large planters (and hanging baskets) through to mid-October.

It is our hope to expand these efforts in 2017 and beyond.

Christine Nagy

Chair - Beautification Working Group
