Dave Weaver - Voice of Slo-Pitch

Well, the Tillsonburg Men's Slo-pitch season ended with various emotions last Tuesday night!

The B Final culminated with a triple play to end the hard fought series between GC Lounsbury and Kekambas. The Kekambas displayed elation and exhilaration as the victors while GC Lounsbury displayed feelings of shock, disappointment and disbelief!

The two teams battled it out and GC was poised to break the hearts of Kekambas, who held a slim two-run lead in the bottom of the seventh. Not being there to witness it (shame on me), what I've been told GC loaded the bases with nobody out. The batter hit a grounder towards first (once again this is just a depiction), Kekambas' Kyle Smith fielded the ball, touched the baserunner, then touched the bag and then threw home to complete the triple play ending the game and the series.

There was a twin bill on this final night and if there wasn't enough drama in the lid lifter, the C Final offered the same in the night cap. Ward's Automotive looked to be home and cooled as they held a six-run lead entering the Pelicans last at-bat.

Pelicans sent 11 batters to the plate while scoring six to tie the game forcing extra innings. They retired Ward's in order in the extra frame. Then cue the dramatics. After a one-out single from Ryan Verbuyst, Adam Jensen stepped up and walked it off with a home run.

Once again a successful season in Tillsonburg Slo-pitch. Tracey Pressey was at the helm of the Ladies League and once again Chris Parker was the man in charge for the Men's League, and both did exemplary jobs!

Thanks to all those who volunteered on both executives and to the umpires that give up their time to make sure the games happen!
