Life-threatening injuries in single motor vehicle collision

On Saturday, September 3, 2016 at approximately 8:10 p.m., Elgin County OPP was dispatched to a single motor vehicle rollover on Plank Road south of Vienna.
The vehicle, a Volkswagen GTI was northbound on Plank Road, passed Teal Nevill Line. At one point the vehicle went off the roadway, rolling numerous times and coming to a rest within a tree on the east side of the roadway.
The St. Thomas Elgin EMS, Oxford EMS, and Bayham Fire Department attended the scene. Paramedics and volunteer fire fighters tended to the individuals of the vehicle. A 20-year-old male was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Plank Road between Tunnel Line and Teal Nevill Line remained closed while police investigated the collision. The Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) was called to investigate the cause of the collision.
As a result of the investigation thus far, Craig Carpani, 20, of Tillsonburg, is charged with: Over 80 mg of Alcohol Per 100 ml of Blood Cause Bodily Harm; Careless Driving; and Young driver: B.A.C. above zero.
