Well it was our fourth annual All-Star night and it went without a hitch that was until Mother Nature decided to spoil the party!

We got to finish three of the four games but the A game was cancelled after competing just shy of three complete innings.

A couple of new formats provided some excellent competitive games and a new time slot brought the spectators out early!

Both Leagues assigned coaches and each drafted their own team with for the most part the respective drafters were able to keep their own players!

This year the Men's League consists of four divisions so an extra time slot was required and proved successful as the Ladies game commenced at six followed by the Men's D game right after on diamond 2.

Chris Parker headed up the event as usual and as we worked together all day I can't lie and say that we didn't have our fingers crossed for perfect weather.

A special thanks to Paul Crowder from Energy Productions for providing us with the sound system, to Paul Nicholson for helping us with beverage pick-up, our man behind the microphone Super Jeff, Michelle Puhr, Tracey Pressey, Tania Ghesquiere and, Kasey McKenzie for running once again a very efficient bar. Then there was Dave Phillips who helped out everywhere I'm thinking good executive material eh Chris?

The games don't go without umpires and Scott Harris and Kurt Vaughan stepped up to volunteer their time! All in all a successful and well spectated event once again.

This week's winner in the Sammy's Fun Puzzle Contest is Scott Harris who answered the question "Which Texas city does Jamie Benn play hockey in? He correctly answered Dallas and used the name of Dallas Dalby found in the column!

This week's question - This Blue Jays player has been an All-Star at his position before, the last time in 2015. Read this  carefully text your answer along with the two names that you used that are found in this week's All-Star part of the column to 519-550-4210 before Saturday night at 6  to win a great prize from Sammy Krenshaw's!

Clue - One player was an MVP in his All-Star game

This year will mark the seventh annual Darryl Carruthers Memorial Golf Tournament. The event takes place this coming Saturday which I have been fortunate to participate in every year!

It's always quite an event filled with  fellowship, golf and lots of laughs. The DC logo is always prevalent from the hats, to the umbrellas, the towels, the cooler bags  to the golf tees and ball markers all momentos received each year at the event. It symbolizes the man, the caring character his generosity and classiness! I have become friends with everyone from his family, extended family and friends.

I would imagine each year he looks down and is always amazed at the turnout but none of us are as we all know what we are there for to honour the memory of a Great Man!
