Ontario Works cheques, statements for July available in Oxford County for in-person pick-up only
Article content
Oxford County is offering in-person pick-up in Woodstock, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg ahead of a possible disruption to mail service.
Oxford County is advising people who receive Ontario Works payments that July cheques and bank statements, including monthly drug cards, will not be mailed out because of a possible disruption to mail delivery by Canada Post.
Instead, the County will make cheques and statements available for in-person pick up at its offices in Woodstock, Tillsonburg and Ingersollon Thursday, June 30. You will need to show valid photo identification to collect your payment or statement.
If you receive Ontario Works payments, please go to the office where your client service worker is located. In Woodstock, all cheques and statements will be handed out at the County’s main Administration Building at 21 Reeve Street. Oxford County’s Human Services offices are also located in Tillsonburg in the Livingston Centre at 90 Tillson Avenue and in Ingersoll in the Community Employment Services at 37 Alma Street.
While a disruption to mail service is not yet confirmed, Oxford County is starting in-person cheque and statement pick-up now to avoid the possibility that Ontario Works payments will be held without delivery, putting vulnerable people in the community at risk of not meeting their basic needs. A possible disruption to mail service could happen as early as July 2.
In the event there is a labour disruption, the County will update information about Ontario Works payments on its website in the Human Services section at www.oxfordcounty.ca/humanservices. The County’s Human Services department is responsible for financial help through supports like Ontario Works, housing and shelter, child care subsidies, and more.
To get automatic text or email updates from Human Services, sign up for eAlerts by going to www.oxfordcounty.ca/ealerts and choosing, “Human Services Updates.” For urgent questions or information, please call 519-539-9800, ext. 3390, toll-free 1-800-755-0394.
The Oxford County Administration Building is closed on July 1 for the Canada Day holiday but opens again on July 4. Remaining cheques and statements for July can be picked up after this time.
