'Go Wild' at the library this summer

The Oxford County Library’s 2016 summer reading program is set to 'Go Wild.'

Fun activities and events are being planned in partnership with TD’s Summer Reading Club, which starts with 'Get Your Summer Read On' day on Saturday, June 25.

If you’re looking to keep your kids busy this summer, while improving their literacy skills, visit the Tillsonburg Library to sign up for the summer reading program and start discovering this summer’s promotional events.

“Kids will have a blast this summer going wild at the library!" said Sarah McDonald, Systems Support Librarian, Oxford County in a media release. "We have lots of great activities and events planned, so there will never be a dull moment with the reading club.”

Social media safari

Each library branch will have their own ‘wild’ animal for kids to find. At each animal station, fun props will be available to use to take a fun photo. They can share their wild photos on social media using the hashtag #OCLGoWild. Along with the props, some facts and books about the specific animal will be displayed so that kids can learn more.

Red reveal

Over the course of the summer, kids will be given six different cards that each contain a riddle that is hidden on the card. Kids will use special glasses to read the text and decipher the riddle. Weekly red reveals will be posted in the branches and will have a special reading challenge for kids to complete each week.

Fun events coming up this summer include Kennedy’s Kridders, Escape Room, Trash Theatre, Drone Olympics, and much more. Visit the Oxford County Library program calendar to see more.

Also, kids can visit the TD Summer Reading Club website for fun activities and online content.
