Week 2

Division A Recap

Kinsmen Club 3, First Step Travel 1

Kinsman Club’s Marijn Noorland once again led his team over one of the division’s power houses as the team in red overpowered a strong First Step Travel. Goals from Noorland, Daniel Vanittersom and Stephan de Groot once again proved the difference. First Step Travel, led by captain Brandon Koppert, were unable to break down a strong Kinsmen defence, with only Garrett Byl making the scoresheet.

Pettman Auctioneering 6, Corey’s Restaurant 2

The Pettman Auctioneering team appeared to leave last Match Day’s troubles behind them, registering their first win of the season with another stellar offensive performance against a veteran Corey’s Restaurant. Corey’s Captain Michael Mesquita was unable to inspire his team to victory, as goals from Pettman’s Jen Pathy and Bailey Page and braces from Mark Edmonds and Chris Pathy proved too much for his and Rachel Bryan’s single strikes.

Boston Pizza 1, Investors Group 0

Goals were not on the menu at Field No. 7, as Nate Shearer proved the difference, leading Boston Pizza over an organized Investors Group. Investors Group came to the field with a well devised plan - countering a Boston Pizza team with original favourites and new flavours - with sound defensive responsibility, tailored to their opposition.

Division B Recap

Lions Club 7, Courtland Vinyl Windows Ltd. 2

Tillsonburg Lions Club continue their penchant for goals. Top scorer Jaime Nieto (2), Jermaine Cush (1), Ivan Hernandez (1), Angel Sandoval (1), Johan Scheurwater (1), Jake Wieler (1) spread the goals around in a dominant display. Gentle Giant Chadwick P. Lofthouse and Jill Yarmie both scored their first goals of the season. Courtland Vinyl Windows will be buoyed by rumors of the return of a seasoned and powerful force from season past. Is there fire amongst the smoke, or is it just idle gossip?

Barely Legal 3, DNS Controls 1

Barely Legal flexed their goal scoring muscle again this week, fleecing the DNS Controls defence for three by way of strikes from Mark Laidman, Jeremy Stockmans and captain Dave Barnabi. DNS Controls responded with a score from Jeff White, but was ultimately unable to equal the team in blue.

Bobcat of Brantford 2, ifourone 0

Goalies were the talk of the town after Bobcat of Brantford ran out 2-0 winners on the back of fine play by stopper Neil Puente. Slipping a ball past the spry veteran was not unlike pulling teeth, as the ifourone offence was unable to chip away at the enamel. ifourone shot stopper Jason Routley was not to be outdone - putting in a typically acrobatic shift with his body on the line - but was unable to prevent efforts by Ken Butcher and the inexhaustible Paul Csanyi.

Tillsonburg Glass 6, Just for Fun 4

Tillsonburg Glass continue to roll, showcasing a fine team game while Just for Fun showed another battling performance, proving they can compete with the top teams in the division. Paul Bosquet led the champions with a treble as Joe Oliveira recorded a brace, and Ted Barney also opened his scoring account for the team in Gold. Just for Fun was not to be outshone with team captain Mark Locker scoring his own treble as Jim Kalampalikis scored his second of the season.
