Soccer programs for everyone

Article content

2016 is shaping up to be a great season for local soccer players and families.

There are multiple programs available for youth ages four to 18, as well as adults 19-and-older. With more than 1,000 registered club members there really is no other sports association in our community that meets the needs of so many people.

Tillsonburg Minor Soccer Club (TMSC) is once again offering a house league soccer program for youth players age 4-18 with separate Boys and Girls division for players 10-and-under and co-ed for older players.

TMSC also organizes a Friday night adult co-ed recreational soccer league for players 19-and-older. This year the adult co-ed league will feature 12 teams divided into two divisons – the A division will be for younger and more competitive players, and the B division for purely recreational players.

Tillsonburg Titans SC will once again offer competitive teams for youth players at various age groups. There will be teams for LDYSL U12 Boys, U13 Boys, U16 Boys, and U11 Girls and U17 Girls.

The club has one marquee team, the U18 boys, who will be playing at the provincial Ontario Youth Soccer League L1 level again this season after having placed a very respectable 4th in the West division during their inaugural season.

There will also be two local Men’s competitive teams (Western Ontario Soccer League Premier and Fourth Division) and two Men’s masters teams (Middlesex Masters Second and Third Division).

Soccer registration is available online on the website and there will be an in-person registration payment date on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. Youth players are encouraged to sign up before March 1 to get the best rates since fees will increase starting in March.

This summer the club will also be hosting three soccer camps for youth ages six to 16 that will be organized by Challenger Sports. This is the third year that Challenger is offering the camps in Tillsonburg and they have been growing in popularity each year. The camps are run during the day by Challenger Sports’ British Soccer Coaches. The camps are a lot of fun and players are sure to learn a lot of new skills. Check out the Camps section on the website for more details.

Later in the summer the club will host an ID camp through the London Youth Whitecaps. The Whitecaps offer a development system for players looking to compete at elite levels and Tillsonburg Titans SC is pleased to be an affiliate.

The Soccer Park Clubhouse is once again available for private rentals for wedding receptions, banquets, conferences, etc. The facility can accommodate up to 200 people and has full kitchen and bar amenities. Check out the General Information section on the website for more details on Facility Rentals.

The club is planning to host some EURO 2016 specific events in July that should be a lot of fun for soccer enthusiasts. There is always something going on at the Soccer Park so check the website regularly for event listings and details.
