Tianna Woods, a rising star and Country Music Recording Artist, is coming to town! There is proof of her assent, for last year she was nominated for the Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAO), Female Artist and Rising Star of the Year!

Theatre Tillsonburg’s Otter Valley Playhouse seems to be attracting the attention of professional performers of various genres, who are coming to our theatre for their performances. We have had Ron Beattie in his Wingfield series (who is coming back again this year) and the Celtic rock group Mud Men, and others, who enjoy the Playhouse as it allows an intimacy with the audience large venues do not. Of course all rentals have to be woven around our theatrical season.

Tianna Woods is doing just that on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. with her concert, “It’s About Country Music and Then Some.”

When hearing she was coming to town, my first question was, “what is the ‘and then some’ mean?” She replied that she will sing a couple of songs from other genres of music that have inspired her over the years.

Tianna has quite the background in the performing arts, besides singing. At ten years of age, she was the guest conductor of a 120-piece orchestra at Hamilton Place. She starred as Anne, in the musical “Anne of Green Gables” not only in Canada but also Japan. Tianna has also performed in an eclectic bill of shows which included “The Music Man,” “Brigadoon,” “Anything Goes,” “The Mikado,” and in New York City, “ That’s Show Biz.”

Her website notes that she loved music and performing so much, that she auditioned for the Etobicoke School of the Arts, an arts high school where she was accepted and attended their five-year program. She graduated with honours and was a triple major in music theatre, music and dance. She has been trained in voice, acting, and several forms of dance including tap, hip hop, jazz, ballet and modern. She can also play the piano, guitar, saxophone, drums, clarinet, fiddle and North American Flute. (She could be her own one woman show!)

“After graduating University, Tianna started working in the business field. With a University degree behind her, she started focusing on developing her career as an entertainer. She put together a band and has been performing at festivals, fairs, jamborees and private events in Canada and the U.S., as well as fundraising charity events for cancer research and military families.”

This is one talented lady, who is able to do so much more than stand there and sing a song. She is an entertainer!

Tianna’s debut album, with award wining producer J. Richard Hutt, was released in November 2015, with another to be released any time now. She has written some of her own songs including her national single release, “Bring Your Own Sunshine.” It's about her own life philosophy, bringing passion and love to the table whenever possible.

Her show features her music as well as country music through the years from country artists including Merle Haggard, George Strait, Alan Jackson, as well as Joe Cocker, Dan Hill and many more. Special guests include Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Wendell Ferguson and singer/songwriter Michael Warren. Tianna has performed in Canada, the U.S and as far away as Japan. The evening promises to be filled with surprises and prizes.

I know there are a lot of country music lovers in Tillsonburg and this is your chance to enjoy and cheer on a very talented, (and did I mention beautiful?) lady.

Tianna is renting the Playhouse, so Theatre Tillsonburg isn’t involved with her ticket sales, however she did make arrangements for you to have easy access at the Station Arts Centre, 41 Bridge St. W.
