An afternoon of outdoor winter fun at Backus - Feb. 20

Article content

Don’t let winter weather keep your family indoors! Join staff at Backus Heritage Conservation Area on Saturday, Feb. 20th for a fun-filled afternoon of winter-themed activities. The Backus “Winterlude” event starts at 12 p.m. at the Conservation Education Centre and includes both inside and outdoor activities.

Outside there will be guided hikes, some First Nations games, tips on how to snowshoe, and a campfire for warmth; while inside the Conservation Education Centre, participants can make a bird feeder to take home and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.

Staff will help families learn to snowshoe, then at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. take them on a guided walk and share tips on ways to identify trees in winter.

All activities end at 3 p.m. with the Conservation Education Centre and park gates closing at that time.

Admission to the “Winterlude” special event is $2 per child, $4 per adult or $10 for a family.
