What's Happening at the Tillsonburg Library

Winter is quickly approaching, but the library has some wonderful activities to bring you in from the cold. We are also looking for donations of unwanted Christmas wrapping paper, and would welcome anything the community has to offer.

Photography Workshops

We still have some room for those interested in our December photography workshops, hosted by Dave Baird. On Thursday, Dec. 3 from 6-8 p.m. Dave will be presenting Long Exposure for the Christmas Season. On Thursday, Dec. 17 from 6-8 p.m. Dave will bring the group on an Evening Photo Walk around Tillsonburg, so be sure to bundle up! Workshops cost $5 each, and there is limited spots available. Call the library now to reserve a spot at 519-842-5571.

Monday Movies

Join us on Mondays at 2 p.m. in our program room for an exciting line up of free movies and popcorn. We plan to show the following movies over the next month: Nov. 23 - Testament of Youth, Nov. 30 - San Andreas, Dec. 7 - Manglehorn, and Dec. 14 - True Story. Remember to come early to secure a seat, and bring a friend!

Novels at Night Book Club

This month our book club is reading The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman. Join us on the last Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. for great discussion, friendship, and refreshments.

Writer’s Circle

Our Writer’s Circle continues to meet bi-weekly, with the next meeting on Thursday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the program room. This program is for both teens and adults, where writers receive encouragement, feedback, and the expertise of other enthusiastic amateur authors. They also host several guest authors and special guests to share their knowledge with the group. If interested drop by a meeting, or call the library for more information at 519-842-5571.

We also continue to host VON Smart Exercise classes, gentle exercises for seniors, every Wednesday and Friday from 1-2 p.m. in our program room.

For your children, try these programs.

Christmas Story time

Join us on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 10:30 a.m. for a special Christmas themed family story time. Our regular family fun story time runs every Thursday and features stories, songs, crafts, and more!

Books for Babies

This program offers babies and their caregivers an opportunity to learn bounces, songs, and rhymes to develop early literacy skills. This program runs every Thursday morning at 10 a.m., just before family story time.

Homeschool Program

This program runs bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 1-2 p.m. in our program room. This program is offered to families who are homeschooling to come to the library for one-hour sessions of fun and educational activities.

All children’s programs are free of charge, but we ask that you phone or drop by the library to register your children. To keep up with the latest programs and events you can drop by the library, check our online events calendar, or phone to speak with our friendly staff at 519-842-5571.
