Thank you to The Bridges at Tillsonburg

We would like to recognize those who made our children’s wedding day a success. Anette and Kevin were married on June 27th at The Bridges golf course in Tillsonburg. On this day Environment Canada issued a special weather statement re: a Rainfall Warning and there was a Provincial Flood Watch. The rain teemed down all day, the winds gusted at high speeds and our special event was being held in a tent! It was a recipe for a dismal day, but thanks to the professionalism of those who were looking after us it became a wonderfully memorable event.

Thank you to Twigs who made extra effort to ensure table arrangements were stable, to Guelph tents who provided a magical venue and made certain we were secure and as comfortable as possible, and to BBQ Feast Catering who provided a delicious meal to 240 guests prepared under a cover while the rain poured down and the wind whipped around them. No small feat!

Lastly, a special thank you to the staff of The Bridges, there is not enough that can be said about the service that was provided for our wedding party and our guests. The staff mustered on in rain coats and boots, looking after our needs all the while being pleasant. A makeshift boardwalk was laid down for our guests and umbrellas were supplied. We were in extremely good hands with Pat Carroll who could be spotted outside the tent working diligently taking care of our energy needs. The star of the night was April Kilpatrick who was everywhere - leading the servers, overseeing the bar, orchestrating clean up services, etc. April was outstanding in helping us organize the wedding and was a pillar the day of the wedding.

Because of these people Anette and Kevin had a magnificent wedding. Everyone present was in agreement that it will be a wedding not easily forgotten, not because of the weather but in spite of the weather. There was great camaraderie and the dancing went on until the wee hours of the morning.

With sincere gratitude,

Ray and Kathy Stonkus and Al and Dianne Verspeeten

Thank you Oxford OPP

Having worked at The Tillsonburg News for some 13 years, I know that lots of stolen property reports do not have happy endings. However this letter is to issue a huge thank you to the Oxford County OPP for helping bring a recent incident at The Tillsonburg Senior Centre to a fast and pleasant end.

Our facility was entered and our Automatic External Defibrillator stolen in late June. I was doubtful we would get the machine back. However we were lucky enough to do just that very recently. Thank you to police for keeping in contact with us while the investigation was being conducted, and for apprehending the culprit. We are sincerely appreciative.
