Danbrook Automotive cruises to first win

Article content

Tillsonburg Adult Rec Soccer League just reached its halfway point of the 2015 regular season, and the second half is shaping up to be a race to the finish.

In the B Division, we have an undefeated Flooring Canada Team being chased by three different teams for supremacy. And in the A division, things just keep getting closer each week – the top two teams were both upset this week!

A Division

Queen’s Café 2, Poultry Specialties 0

Queen’s Café put on an impressive defensive effort Friday, shutting out the Poultry squad for the first time this season. It was a back and forth affair, with Scott Gallman earning his first blank slate and Steve Gallman continues to lead his team with a goal in each half.

Pettman Auctioneering 7, First Step Travel 3

After three consecutive losses, the Pettman gang finally came to life. Max Evanitski and Jenn Pathy each looked like demons scoring two apiece. When Marijn Noorland arrived, he did everything that he could to lead his team back, but his two goals were too little too late.

B Division

Flooring Canada 3, Barely Legal 1

In the marquee matchup of the week, Breanna Vermeersch shuts down another team – do I smell an MVP coming! The Barely Legal squad was short-handed, and put on a valiant effort, but they were not stopping the steady offence generated by Flooring Canada's Angela Rochus, Catherine Ympa and Seb Fardella.

Courtland Vinyl 6, iFourone 4

After a shaky start to the season, the Courtland team just keeps rolling on. They beat a strong iFourone squad with their usual balanced attack - Steve Vanittersum and Garret Pelleboer each scored one while, Pat Stephenson and Rudy Vanittersum put two behind the keeper. Jason Lampert showed us why he is one of the top goalscorers in the league, netting two in the first half, but unable to put any behind Garret Pelleboer in the second half.

Tillsonburg Glass 4, Ostrander's 2

Tillsonburg Glass just continue to do what they do well – play a great overall team game. They kept possession, and had scoring from four different players – Adrian Aarnoudse, Romel Diaz, Jaime Neito, and Ivan Hernandez. Nicole Breddy and Ken Butcher each put one in for the Ostrander team.

Danbrook Automotive 7, Just for Fun 1

It was an exciting night for the young, but inexperienced Danbrook team. Sam Pasternak got her first goal in league play (way to go Sam), and was supported by her teammates with three goals from Ed Michalik, and a goal apiece from Danny Pacheco and Garret Ogilvie. Things really seem to be turning around for this team – watch out!!
