Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital repairs aged brickwork

Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital is undertaking repairs of aged brickwork on its North Wing to ensure public safety and protect the integrity of the building.

Brick deterioration in this area created a potential fall hazard to public access areas and allowed moisture to seep into the building causing interior leaks within staff and patient care areas.

To rectify these issues, brick replacement and mortar repointing were required on the second and third floors of the TDMH North Wing.

Funding designated for patient care was not used towards this project. The cost of the brick and mortar repairs will be covered through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF), which is designed to assist public hospitals to renew their facilities.

Patients visiting TDMH are asked to enter through designated areas and to take extra care. Brickwork repairs are expected to be completed June 26, 2015.
