Sydnie Lane -- Tillsonburg Library (OCL)

Attention high school students! If you are looking for something fun and meaningful to participate in while getting community service hours, look no further than the Tillsonburg Library.

We are still looking for Big Buddies to participate in our Reading Buddies Program that pairs young, struggling readers with teens as a way to practice reading and develop literacy skills in a fun, non-judgmental environment. Applications are available at the library and are being accepted until February 27. Stop by to pick yours up today!

We are getting ready for the Community United Nations Debate on April 25 by hosting some prep sessions in the branch. If you are interested in participating in the upcoming debates and want to learn all you’ll need to know to be a part of this exciting event, drop-by to get in the know.

At the sessions you will meet a knowledgeable representative from Glendale’s United Nations Club, learn more about the resolutions being debated, how to do your own research, and learn about debate preparation. Take-home information packages will also be distributed. The first sessions will be held on Tuesday, February 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Thursday, February 26 from 1-3 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. All sessions are free and drop-in. Check our website, ocl.net for additional information session dates.

It’s almost March Break and the library will be hosting programs for kids of all ages throughout the March 16-20 week! Growing Chefs cooking class, Mad Science, Marshmallows of Mass Destruction, a children’s concert with local musician Paul Droog, and a March Break Madness movie are all in store! Registration for programs will begin Monday, February 23 and space is limited. For full descriptions of the programs, please visit our website or drop-in to the library for more information.

We need your help! The library is seeking donations of paper towel roll tubes for an upcoming craft. If you have tubes to spare, please consider bringing them to the library instead of tossing them in the recycling bin! Thank you in advance.

If you have questions about any of the upcoming programs at the library, contact us at 519-842-5571 or visit our website at ocl.net.
