Beres named vice-chair for LPRCA board

Article content

Tillsonburg Deputy Mayor Dave Beres is the new vice chair of Long Point Region Conservation Area (LPRCA).

Beres was elected at the LPRCA board of directors meeting on Jan. 14.

Norfolk councillor Michael Columbus succeeded Roger Geysens as chair of LPRCA. Both Beres and Columbus have four years of experience on the board since being appointed by their respective municipalities in 2010.

January 14 was the first meeting of the new LPRCA board of directors. The board, made up of municipal representatives, has expanded to include an additional director, and is now an 11-member board to reflect a request from the County of Brant and Township of Norwich for individual representation. The LPRCA welcomes the new structure and looks forward to ensuring that it works to the satisfaction of our member municipalities.

The LPRCA’s 11-member board includes five new appointees - Councillor John Scholten representing the Township of Norwich; Township of South-West Oxford Councillor David Hayes; Municipality of Bayham Deputy Mayor Tom Southwick, representing Bayham and the Township of Malahide; and Norfolk County Councillors Noel Haydt and Doug Brunton.

LPRCA directors deal with matters on a watershed basis.
