Tillsonburg Kinette's Breakfast With Santa on Saturday 8:30-11 a.m.

Traditional pancakes and sausage are on the menu for Saturday's Breakfast With Santa, presented by the Tillsonburg Kinette Club in the Lions Auditorium of the Tillsonburg Community Centre.

Families will be able to enjoy breakfast between 8:30-11 a.m., and children will 'meet and greet' Santa Claus, who will be sitting for the duration of the event next to a Christmas tree.

The Kinette's Breakfast with Santa tradition goes back at least eight years, said Tillsonburg Kinette past-president Tammy Kyle.

"We had the first couple in the Lions Den, but it got too big so we moved it to the Auditorium and we've been doing it there ever since."

"It's been a steady stream of kids coming through," Santa had reported in December 2010. "They're all very polite, all looking forward to Christmas. It's really fun."

In addition to sausage and pancakes, the $5 breakfast includes oranges, juice and coffee.

"We also do Christmas tattoos," Kyle noted.

Thanks to generous sponsors, she added, several breakfast tickets are annually given to local schools, making it available to children who might not otherwise be able to attend.

"We really do rely on the sponsors, donations and financial support. Sobeys does the most for us, for sure – they supply all the pancakes and syrup for us."

Attendance varies from year to year, but is usually 350-400.

"It depends on the year – if a hockey game finishes while the breakfast is on, the numbers can go up to 500 and we have to run out and get more pancake mix."

Breakfast With Santa is the Kinette's biggest fundraiser.

"It takes all of our members to do it," said Kyle, noting club membership is up to 24 this year. "We've got record numbers right now, and hopefully we can keep them all. Hopefully with more members we should be doing more things."

Currently, the Kinette Club supports The Salvation Army, Helping Hand Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Adult and Children's Literacy, and Canada Day, which involves children's games and activities at the Station Arts Centre. The club also co-hosted the Christmasfest Holiday Tour of Homes last weekend.

"And other local charities," said Kyle. "It varies each year."
