Sydnie Lane - Library Lane

There is still time to register for our kick-off to the holiday season, Seasons of Celebrations Storytime!

Each Thursday night from November 20 through December 18, we will host a local celebrity reader who will enchant children with a story about one of the holidays that is celebrated this time of year. Join us this Thursday at 7 p.m. for stories about Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, followed by a fun craft, and the opportunity to take home some of your favourite holiday reads. Appropriate for kids up to age 10. Please phone the library to reserve your spot!

Looking for something to do on this Friday’s PA Day? Search no more, the library has it covered! Crafter’s Corner is open for business in our program room, and kids will have the opportunity to have fun and make some unique holiday gifts! Decorative votive candle holders, delicious cookie mix, fun mug cozies and more, you won’t want to miss out. The program runs from 1-3 p.m. and is suitable for kids ages six to 12. Please note that children under 10 years must have an adult remain in the building for the duration of the program.

Join us for a mouth-watering feast of your own design! On Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 6-7:30 p.m., professional chefs Andrew and Catherine from the "Growing Chefs" program in London will be at the library to teach teens and tweens how to make several delicious restaurant-quality dishes that are easy AND healthy. Young cooks will get lots of hands-on experience with proper cutting and cooking techniques, so wearing clothes that are okay for getting dirty are recommended. Plus, participants will get to eat all the food that they make, so we recommend NOT eating dinner before the program! This workshop for those 11-17 years old is free, but registration is required. Contact the library to reserve a spot.

The library says a fond farewell to our Program Services Coordinator, Becky Stark, who has moved on for an opportunity with another library system. Over the past year and a half, Becky has done a great job creating and running our children’s and teens programs, and she will be missed! Of course our programming will continue while we wait for a new coordinator to join our team, but check the library website or give us a call to confirm if you are unsure about any cancellations.

And finally, because of the PA Day, Friday’s VON Smart Exercise class is cancelled. See you again next week!
