Trick or Treat at the Water Park Haunted House - Oct. 28

Article content

It's the season for 'Trick' or 'Treating'. On Tuesday evening, Oct. 28, at the Lake Lisgar Haunted Water Park, children will have a choice of haunted 'houses'. Trick for the older children, Treat for the younger kids.

"We're dividing the change rooms up," said Julie Dawley. "The theme is Trick or Treat. The 'trick' side is the boys change room – it's being totally decked out by two of our community's Halloween 'fanatics', Scott Foster and Chip Barkhouse. They are doing the 'really scary side', plus their doing something out on the pool deck. You go through the room, to the pool deck, then back through the office area.

"So that side's a little longer... and absolutely terrifying."

Watch out for ghosts, Dawley hinted. And zombies.

"It's going to be a lot of fun!"

On the other side, in the girls change room, is the 'treat' side, designed for younger children and those who don't want to be 'frightened.' It will be decorated by Wish Designs.

"So we're saying, 'Choose your scare for a $2 fare.' The $2 admission goes toward Drowning Prevention."

The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

"If they come in a costume they get to put their name in a draw for free swimming lessons. We're going to give away two sessions of free swimming. And we also have some other prizes donated by the Lifesaving Society."

Coyle's Country Store is the candy sponsor, so candy will be handed out Tuesday.

Although Dawley does not consider herself a Halloween 'expert,' she does count herself as a Halloween enthusiast.

"Big time," Dawley smiled. "I'm taking down all my Halloween decorations and bringing them in for the Treat side. Mine aren't scary.

"I love Halloween, I love it. Every year on my birthday, there's a big Halloween party. I've always celebrated with Halloween."
