Organizers of the Helping Hand Food Bank's Thanksgiving Food Blitz announced a new record amount of food items had been collected Saturday. Volunteers picked up 10,362 pounds of donated food, nearly 1,000 pounds more than last year's fall food drive.

"We have such good support from the community," said Helping Food Bank coordinator Joan Clarkson, who correctly predicted no rain Saturday morning. "It's amazing," she said, watching a team of volunteers sorting food Saturday afternoon.
