Corvettes converge in Tillsonburg

Article content

A Corvette invasion took over the roads in Tillsonburg and area last weekend.

Almost 30 of the iconic sports cars took part in a car rally Sunday organized by the Corvettes of Western Ontario club.

Dale Rex of Tillsonburg, one of the organizers, said participants would get a list of instructions to take them through the countryside. There would be questions they needed to answer and checkpoints along the way.

Rex and his wife Laura own three Corvettes. "It's a sports car, if you like them sporty," Rex said of the vehicle's appeal. "It's fast."

He bought his first Corvette in 1970, and still has the vehicle today. It's a 1968 model and had 2,000 miles on it when he bought it. Laura got her first Corvette in 1975 and also still has it, Rex said.

Sunday's rally started at the plaza parking lot at Broadway and North Street. The rally was expected to take about three hours with Port Burwell being one of the stops along the way.

There are 69 members in the Corvettes of Western Ontario club. The club holds several events throughout the year.
