O'Neil Knightly News - Amara Pressey & Mackenzie Squires

Welcome back to a new school year! We hope that everyone had a safe and happy summer. My name is Amara Pressey and I will be one of the writers bringing you up to date information from events happening here at Monsignor O’Neil. Mackenzie Squires will be the other fabulous reporter of O’Neil news.

This year we have a lot of new students and it’s nice to see the new Grade 5’s. Here at Monsignor O’Neil we are one big happy family. As a reminder with changing weather, the staff here at O’Neil would like to remind students and parents that daily clothes should be neat, tidy, free from rips or tears, inappropriate advertising and modest. There should be no short shorts, all clothing should be finger tips length with arms relaxed.

We would like to welcome some new teachers to our school, Mrs. Tucker-Deluce Grade 6/7, Mrs. Kulich Grade 7, and Mrs. Bedard Music until September when we will welcome back Mrs. Thompson, and Mrs. Rankin Educational Assistant.

Welcome back to Miss. Currado who is teaching this year with Mrs. Rayner. Good luck to Mr. Good who retired at the end of last year, hope you had a great summer and are not too bored without us. Best wishes to Mrs. Barlow as she moved on to follow her dreams and became a librarian at another school. Welcome to Mrs. Van Rybroeck who filled in last year for Mrs. Barlow and is joining our faith family this year at O’Neil.

This month we will be doing our Terry Fox run on Sept. 19. We would like to remind students about not going door to door and being safe while fundraising for this great cause.

We would like to say thank you to Mrs. Harkes and Mrs. Brotz for all their hard work getting ready for another school year with us here at O’Neil.

We look forward to another fantastic year here at O’Neil with many activities planned throughout the school year including sports such as volleyball, basketball, hockey, soccer, golf and track and field, lunches, Halloween dress up, and various faith related activities.

All families are welcome to attend the welcome back barbecue on Sept. 16 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Come out and meet the teachers that will be leading our students in this wonderful upcoming school year. Father Tom Ferrera will say a blessing at 5:30 p.m. to open another fantastic school year for us.

Our first mass will be held Sept. 23 at 10 a.m., allowing us to join with St. Joseph’s at St. Mary’s Church for a time to gather in friendship and pray for another safe and happy school year.

Any parents wishing to volunteer at the school or for activities are reminded to have an up to date police check on file with the school. Forms are available from the front office. Here at O’Neil student safety is of the utmost importance, and a friendly reminder is sent out that all doors are locked at all times. Now that school is back in, us students would like to remind all on the roads to stop for our buses so that we can arrive safely to school and home.
