Goovaerts celebrates 100th birthday

Maria Goovaerts celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Caressant Care in Courtland. Goovaerts, who was born in Belgium on the eve of World War I, was joined Friday by family members, Caressant Care friends, and musician Gary Clement. Goovaerts later released 100 balloons to mark the occasion.
