Speeding on 401 leads to multiple charges

A 51-year-old London man driving at a high rate of speed was stopped on the 401 near Culloden Road Saturday, near Ingersoll.

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police was conducting aircraft speed enforcement on Highway 401 westbound near Ingersoll on July 12, 2014, when a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed was stopped near Culloden Road. The male driver was found to be driving without a licence which had been suspended since 1986.

Martin Went, 51 years, of London, was charged with the following under The Highway Traffic Act: Suspended Driving; Use Plate Not Authorized; Use Validation Not in Accordance with the Act; and Speeding 148 kilometers per hour in a posted 100 kilometer per hour zone.

He is also charged with Driving Without Insurance according to The Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

His vehicle towed and he was served several summonses for a future Woodstock Court date.
