OPP clarify name in sexual assault arrest

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a sexual assault on July 1, 2014. The female victim in the alleged assaults was between 16 and 17 years old at the time of the offences. The incidents are alleged to have occurred between January 2013 and July 1, 2014 in Tillsonburg.

As a result of this investigation, 59 year-old Frank Louie Fulop of Tillsonburg was arrested on July 2, 2014. He is charged with the following under The Criminal Code of Canada: Sexual Assault (2 counts); and Sexual Exploitation (2 counts).

He was held for bail court in Woodstock as a result of the arrest. He has since been released and is on conditions ordered by the court pending his future court appearances.

Any person with information regarding this incident should immediately contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

CLARIFICATION

To clear up questions of mistaken identity, the man arrested on Wednesday, July 2 is not Frank Joseph Fulop, also 59, who works in Tillsonburg. Frank Joseph, formerly from Eden, lives with his wife Julie in Delhi.

"All of a sudden I've been getting phone calls galore – a lot of people know me," said Frank Joseph Sunday evening, who was made aware of the story Saturday night. "It's not me and he's not related to me. I don't know who he is. There's obviously two Frank Fulops – it's just rare that there's someone with the same name, same age."
