School’s out and the library has boredom busters for kids of all ages!

There is still time to register for the Summer Reading Club, open to kids ages 0-to-12. This year’s theme is “Eureka!” and focuses on creativity, discovery and ideas. There are weekly programs and lots of special events, including a chance to meet Scooter and Dolly, two of Tillsonburg’s most special skunks, a visit from acclaimed author E.K. Johnston, and a drawing workshop with Karlene Ryan. These activities are all free to registered Summer Reading Club participants, but some require registration so stop by the library soon to reserve a spot!

SUMMER BOOK BINGO

Too old for the regular Summer Reading Club? Why not try Summer Book Bingo! Teens ages 13-to-17 can come by and pick-up a Bingo card full of amazing teen titles, and the game is easy: read a line of books and you’ll win a free book of your choice! You can read up to three lines to get three free books, so get started today! Teens are also welcome to join us for Improv-a-palooza on July 23, when acting coaches from London’s Palace Theatre will be at the library to teach about the art of improv. If you love acting or are interested in trying something new, this may be the program for you! Open to teens ages 13-17, registration is required.

WHAT EVERY BABYSITTER SHOULD KNOW

Calling all babysitters-to-be! The library is hosting the St. John Ambulance “What Every Babysitter Should Know” course on Saturday, July 19. This all-day session will cover everything from emergency preparedness to feeding picky eaters and understanding the responsibilities of being a babysitter. It is open to children ages 10-12 years old, and the fee is $50 payable to St. John Ambulance Woodstock-Brant. This popular course has a limited number of spaces available, so contact the library to reserve yours soon.

LAUGHTER YOGA

Don’t worry adults there are programs for you, too! Laughter Yoga is back by popular demand on Monday nights from July 7 to August 25, holidays excluded. Drop-in at 6:30 p.m. to get your giggle on!

GAMES NIGHT

The library is holding a Games Night on Wednesday, July 16 from 5:30-8:15 p.m. and we’ll have a great selection of games to choose from. Whether you’re a trivia buff, love strategy, or something simple, we’ve got the game for you! This is a drop-in program, games and table spaces are limited, so get here early!

TED Talks

If you are an ideas person, you won’t want to miss out TED Talks at the library! TED is a non-profit group devoted to spreading ideas in the form of short, powerful talks on anything from technology to art to social issues, and more! We’ll be showing some fantastic talks by Chris Hadfield, Malcolm Gladwell, and other inspiring minds on Thursday, July 24 and Wednesday, August 20 at 7 p.m. See you there!
