Drug bust in Norwich Township

Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Central Drug Enforcement Unit and Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) – with the assistance of the Oxford County OPP and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) members, conducted a search warrant at a residence on Cedar Line on Saturday, May 31 in Norwich Township.

The warrant led to the seizure of 87.3 grams of Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDVP, commonly referred to as 'Bath Salts'), 37 grams of Cannabis Marihuana Bud, 21 Cannabis Marihuana plants and approximately $2,500 in cash. Also seized were three firearms, ammunition and one vehicle.

Police arrested and charged two males as a result of this investigation.

Charged with the following are a 33-year-old male and 27-year-old male, both from Norwich Townsehip:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other Drug (MDPV)

Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cannabis Marihuana

Produce a Schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana

Import a Schedule I substance – Other Drug (MDPV)

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Both were held for bail hearings, and are scheduled to appear in Woodstock Court on Monday, June 2, 2014.
