Tillsonburg Farmers' Market celebrates local food

Article content

The Tillsonburg Farmer’s Market is celebrating Local Food Week on Saturday, June 7, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

Buy farm fresh local produce, get gardening tips, learn ways to use herbs in cooking, and enjoy a savoury Rib eye slider featuring local YU Ranch grass fed beef and local cheese.

“Tillsonburg residents are choosing the Farmers' Market for nature's best produce, secure in the knowledge that the food is fresh, safe to eat and the next best thing to harvesting it yourself. Come rain or sweet sunshine, fresh picked food is always available at the Tillsonburg Farmers' Market. Fruits, vegetables, meats, herbs, maple syrup and honey just a few of the many items available weekly,” said Cathy Gilvesy, owner of Y U Ranch, in a media release.

Chef JP Mooney will be preparing YU Ranch rib eye sliders topped with local vegetables for sampling, Quality Sheep Milk will be offering smoked feta cheese tastings, and Tourism Oxford will have information on where to buy local food.

In addition to the tastings, the Tillsonburg Horticultural Society will attend with the Heritage Line Herbs, providing a planting information session, and Tillsonburg Community Garden with the “Cooking without a box” program.

This is a farmers’ market you won’t want to miss, but get there early to get the best selection before it’s all gone.
