May 14

Town of Tillsonburg Public Meeting on Tillsonburg Hydro Inc. at Lion’s Auditorium. Doors open at 6 p.m., curfew at 10:30 p.m. if required.

Roast Beef dinner at Brownsville Community Centre, serving from 5-7 p.m. Cost: Adults $14, ages 6-12 $6 and under-five free.

Respect for Life Ecumenical Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at

St. Mary’s Church, Rolph St.Tillsonburg. All are welcome!

Bleach Stencil T-shirts for Teens at the library (ages 13-17) from 7-8:30 p.m. Bring your own coloured or black T-shirt and make it awesome by adding your own design… in bleach! Stencils and bleaching supplies provided. If unable to bring your own shirt, please contact Becky at the library 519-842-5571. Drop-in (no registration required).

Pancake Breakfast beginning at 10 a.m. at the Community of Christ Church located at the corner of Culloden Road and Eden Line. Cost $5, with proceeds for local schools’ healthy snack programs.

May 20

Doors open for the Tillsonburg Horticultural Society’s 8th Annual Garden Auction in the Lions Auditorium at the Community Centre at 5:45 p.m. with both toonie and fiver tables full of annuals, herbs, tomato plants and perennials plus a bake sale and a unique home and garden decor draw table. Then take a look at the amazing selection of trees, shrubs, and plants plus both lovely and practical garden items available in the live auction that starts at 6:30 p.m. Everyone welcome. Cash or cheque only. Proceeds support horticultural projects in the community.

Burford Tractor Club meeting in Fairfield Church Hall @ 7.30 p.m. Everyone welcome, guest speaker.

Gentlemen of Harmony Barbershoppers will be performaing at the Springford Baptist Church beginning at 7 p.m. Admission $10 at the door.

May 26

Laughter Yoga at the Library. Instructor Gail Kavelman will lead you in this stress-relieving exercise, using a mixture of laughing, breathing, and stretching. 6:30-7:15 p.m. This is a free, drop-in program for adults.

Imagine what it would be like to be unable to read and write. Become part of the solution as a volunteer tutor and help teach an adult how to read and write. Tutor-training workshop on March 22 and March 29, 2014. For more information, call Wendy Woodhouse at (519) 842-9008 ext. 266.

The Community Probus Club of Tillsonburg will be meeting in the Lions Den at the Community Centre on Wednesday May 28th at 10 a.m. Our Speaker is Remi Paul Vande Styke who will talk on growing Ginseng.

Alzheimer Society of Oxford offers individual support, information sessions and support groups in Oxford County for people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias and their family members and friends. The VON is offering Free Exercise classes for Seniors at North Broadway Baptist Church Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10.45 a.m. Armchair Exercise Classes at the library Tuesdays and Thursdays 1-2 p.m. for those with mobility issues.

Poetry Workshops with Julie Berry at Tillsonburg Library, Tuesdays, May 13, and June 10 at 7 p.m. Register for this adult program by phoning the library at 519-842-5571.

Knit 'n' Lit at the Library

Join us Monday nights at 6:30 p.m. (except holidays) for some tea and discussion while you work away on your knitting or crochet pieces. This is a free, drop-in program for adults. Please note, this is not an instructional class.

St Paul's United Church is offering a PA day program for kids ages 5-12. The theme is Boot Camp-putting on God's Armor. Crafts, music, games - a jam packed day. Starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per child. Snacks provided - kids bring their own lunches. Registration is limited. PA Day program at Tillsonburg Public Library: Back by popular demand – Lego Fest 2 from 1-3 p.m. Join in the Lego Creation Contest (build something at home and bring it ahead of time to get judged), “Iron Chef”-style Building Competitions, Lego Mindstorm demo, and more! This is a registered program for ages 6-12. Registration available starting Tuesday May 20, at the library or by phone (519-842-5571). Please ask for Becky Stark for more information. Also, in preparation for this and more Lego-related events, the library is accepting donations of clean, gently-used Lego! Drop it off at the library check-out desk any time.

June 21

The Eden and Area Community Centre is hosting a Roast Beef Supper from 5-7 p.m. Adult advance tickets are $12, at the door $15. Children 10-and-under tickets are $5. Tickets can be purchased from members, at the Eden store or by calling 519-866-3664.
