Senior Centre Singers Spring Concert

Tillsonburg Senior Centre Singers annual Spring Concert on May 2 was a great success.
A photo display in the lobby highlighted past performances for the Senior Centre Singers, who are in their 20th anniversary year, and manager Jack Parker welcomed a big concert crowd in Lions Auditorium Friday night. Both Jack and director Rachel Parker expressed their thanks to God for "being here together."
A lively performance consisted of Broadway tunes (eg. My Fair Lady, Gigi), hymns (You Light Up My Life), Gospel numbers (Take Me To The River), a barbershop quartet rendition of Lida Rose (Music Man), and more.
Jack and Rachel Parker's daughter, Stephanie Park, turned up unexpectedly from Florida and sang Ave Maria, dedicating it to her parents who were thrilled and touched.
The ever-popular sing song lead by the director and singers was a hit, as always.
Singers promoted the message of world peace by asking the audience to sing with them Hands United In Peace and Let There Be Peace On Earth.
Tillsonburg Senior Centre administrator Nancy Boutin and Karen Rohrer presented pianists Carol Ferguson and Lynne Archdekin, and director Rachel Parker and manager Jack Parker, with flowers.
Rachel thanked all for participating Friday, and especially thanked her husband Jack, 'The Wind Beneath Her Wings.'
The spring concert ended with the director leading everyone in the Serenity Prayer... 'God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.'
Thanks to the generosity of the community, the Senior Centre Singers have donated about $20,000 to Grandmothers to Grandmothers of the Stephen Lewis Foundation (AIDS) to help grandmothers raise grandchildren whose parents are dying or have died from AIDS.
