Tillsonburg councillor Dave Beres was nominated and appointed Mayor during a special meeting of Town Council Friday morning, filling the vacancy left by Mayor John Lessif's resignation.
Beres, Tillsonburg's senior councillor who began his first term in 1994, stressed he does not have an agenda and would like to see Council continue its good work and carry through until the end of the term (October 2014).
"My entire career has been in customer service both with my business and elected position," said Beres. "Tillsonburg is my home. The people here3 have always treated me well and I am passionate about my community. This is an opportunity to give back in kind."
Town Council has begun the process of filling Beres' vacant councillor position.
