Thunder fire 86 shots to win Game 4

A four-goal third period powered the Tillsonburg Thunder past Goderich Pirates Friday night in Game 4 of their WOAA South Division quarterfinal at the Tillsonburg Kinsmen Memorial Arena.
Goderich had knotted the score at 1-1 at 18:03 of the second period after Ryan Gaertner had given Tillsonburg a late first-period lead. The Thunder bombarded Goderich goalie Tyler Koot with 58 shots through two periods, but the score was still 1-1 after 40 minutes.
Chris McGuffin scored the game winner with 8:39 to play, and three more Thunder goals over the next six minutes clinched the game and the first-round best-of-seven playoff series. Koot finished the game with 81 saves, while Thunder goalie Cody Vinnai made 16 saves.
Tillsonburg outscored Goderich 35-6 in four games.

South Division semifinals against Clinton Radars begin Saturday, Feb. 22nd in Tillsonburg at 7:30 p.m. The best-of-seven continues Feb. 28 in Clinton, returning to Tillsonburg Saturday, March 1 (7:30 p.m.) for Game 3.
