Article content

The busy schedule at Annandale has rolled into the month of February. Good things keep happening around Annandale School. Last week we held our annual school speech contest. Students from both Grades 7 and 8 had a chance to participate in our contest.

A big thank you to all students who were brave enough to present their speeches. The top three speeches belonged to: Ashley Rosehart, Liam Fletcher and Kristen Arnel. These three students will now move on to the town speech contest that will take place at the Legion on March 1st. Thanks also goes out to Ms. Kisilak, Mr. Brown and Mr. Van Asseldonk for judging our contest.

Grade 8 students are being faced with some big decisions. It is the time of year where Grade 8 students are thinking ahead to Grade 9 and making their course selections. Glendale guidance counsellors have been meeting with Grade 8 teachers and students to help make these important decisions.

Students were excited to hear the final result of spirit points for the first term. Students in 7B and 8C seem to have the most spirit so far and will both be rewarded with a class pizza party. Spirit points will reset for the second term.

Our next spirit day is on February 14th where students will dress up in red, white and pink to earn spirit points. We have seen lots of spirit so far this year and are excited to see the fun and wacky costumes that will be worn.

Our annual talent show auditions have been underway and we are excited for our annual talent show on Thursday, February 13th. Students will be singing, dancing and playing instruments during this fun-filled assembly.
