Hello Tillsonburg! With the excitement of the Christmas holidays behind us, many great events are coming up this month. As a school, Annandale raised $193 through our Christmas dance and has decided to donate the money to the OSPCA. After helping out our community through the food drive, we thought that it would be great to help out some needy animals as well.

Many of our Grade 7 classes will be writing speeches in class, speech contest auditions will take place on January 27th and the contest will be on January 30th. The top three competitors will go to the legion in February. Ms. Kisilak and Mr. Van Asseldonk look forward to hearing some creative, well-written speeches once again this year.

On January 15th many Grade 8 students and their parents attended Glendale Orientation. Students and parents got the opportunity to meet teachers at Glendale, learn about extra-curricular activities, and learn about the courses and different levels taught at Glendale. Over the next few months guidance counsellors from Glendale will be visiting our Grade 8 classes to help with course selection and questions about high school.

The Thames Valley District School Board has organized a literacy and numeracy camp. All students in Grade 7 and 8 who are looking to further develop their knowledge are invited to attend. The camp will take place July 7th to July 18th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For more information on this wonderful learning opportunity call 519-452-2660.

On the 21st of January, our school was visited by the #KindEveryTime challenge. This program tackles the complex issue of bullying in our community! The focus is being shifted from the problem to the solution. Over the course of 21 days our school is being challenged to commit random acts of kindness, developing confidence and self-esteem along the way. Be the change!

Attention Annandale students! We will be hosting a yearbook cover design contest. Your design must include the school name, year (2013-14), school colours, and illustrations representing school life.
