Article content

At Sacred heart School we’ve had an extremely eventful week. Throughout the week, students were busy getting ready for Christmas celebrations. Last Thursday, wonderful volunteers from the school community put on an amazing turkey dinner for the students and staff to enjoy.

Festivities were opened with a prayer by Father Slawek of Sacred Heart Church. Turkey, stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy and a dessert of ice cream were all tasty.

Following the delicious dinner, another exciting event took place. Students had their dress rehearsal for their Christmas Presentation. Once all the glitches were worked out, students were ready for their evening performance of the Nativity Story presented in story and song by all classes. Once again, Father Slawek started us off with a prayer.

Students made their parents proud. Themed baskets that had been created by each of the classes were raffled off to raise funds. Everyone was excited to win one of the baskets and a number of lucky people are enjoying baskets of games, goodies, movie treats, baking surprises, crafts and many others.

On Friday, the boys basketball coach released the final 2013/14 school team roster. The boys have been practising often to prepare for the tournament at the end of January. The picture shows the team, with the exception of Evan.

Last Saturday was the Langton Santa Claus parade. Students and members of the Student and School Councils created a float. They then battled the frigid temperatures as they rode throughout the streets of Langton. Those riding the float did a great job spreading school spirit throughout the community.

They also spread the news of the 75th Anniversary of Sacred Heart School which will be taking place in April.

On Sunday, the third week of Advent has begun and students continue to work on the virtue of patience as they await the arrival of Christmas.

Students will begin their Christmas holidays on Friday because it is a P.A. Day. From Sacred Heart School, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe holiday!
