$174,000 in drugs, weapons seized

An estimated $174,000 in illegal drugs has been seized and two Norfolk County residents are facing a lengthy list charges following execution of a search warrant at a Norfolk County Road 60, South Walsingham address just before noon Thursday.

 

The OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Drug Enforcement Unit along with the assistance of the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, Emergency Response Team, K9 Services and members of the Norfolk OPP attended the residence at approximately 11:55 a.m. and executed the search warrant. As a result, police seized illegal drugs valued at approximately $174,000 along with firearms, ammunition and various drug-related paraphernalia.

A 52-year-old male is charged with the following offences:

•Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm X3

•Unsafe storage of Firearm X3

•Possession of a prohibited weapon – Shuriken

•Possession of Methamphetamine

•Possession for the purpose of Trafficking  – Marihuana

•Possession for the purpose of Trafficking - Hashish

•Produce a scheduled II substance – Hashish

•Produce a scheduled II substance –  Cannabis Oil

A 49-year-old female is charged with the following offences:

•Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm X3

•Unsafe storage of Firearm X3

•Possession of a prohibited weapon – Shuriken

•Possession for the purpose of Trafficking  – Marihuana

•Possession for the purpose of Trafficking - Hashish

•Produce a scheduled II substance – Hashish

•Produce a scheduled II substance –  Cannabis Oil

 Both are to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

“Illicit drugs continue to be a scourge in society and an ongoing threat to the safety of Ontario residents and communities," said Constable Ed Sanchuk of the Norfolk OPP. "The OPP remains strongly committed to work within all of our communities across the province to stem the tide of illicit drugs.”
