Veterans honoured during assembly

Article content

Hello Tillsonburg!

November has already been a busy month here at Annandale. On November 11th we had our Remembrance Day assembly; Annandale students were very respectful as we honored our veterans on this important day. Annandale would like to thank Mr. Knapp, Ms. Hogland as well as Andy Longridge (piper) for their important contributions to this year’s Remembrance Day assembly.

This is a poem written by Mariana Carson about Remembrance Day:

Remember those who went to war for our freedom,

Remember saying goodbye, with tears in your eye,

Remember what they’re fighting for….

Remember why they left, so young, so bold,

Remember how you know they’ll always be there to hold,

Remember what they’re fighting for….

Remember why you pin a poppy to your breast,

Remember that you will never be alone,

Remember,

Remember what they’re fighting for.

Our parent council has been organizing great fundraisers for our school. All students get a chance to show off their school spirit by purchasing Annandale spirit wear. To help fundraise for the breakfast program at our school, we sold poinsettias. Thank you to everyone bought these beautiful flowers.

On December 17th Annandale will have a great turkey lunch. Students will get a chance to preorder their meal. The price will be $6 and forms will be sent home soon. Don’t forget to order your food, Annandalers!

We would like to congratulate Rhiannon Bramburger on her Kiwanis Student of Excellence Award. This award is presented to a student with exceptional marks and a positive attitude toward school. Rhiannon, your hard work is greatly appreciated and we wish you luck for the rest of the year.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates on Annandale School!

November 13

Great things keep on happening here at Annandale! Once again, all schools in Thames Valley will take The Pledge To End Bullying. We will take the pledge on November 18th at 10 a.m. Before we take the pledge, Grade 8 students from the Leadership Council will educate Grade 7 students on the importance of this event. This pledge is taken because everyone has the right to feel safe at school, and to keep things moving towards stopping bullying, FOREVER!

All students will get the opportunity to watch Shrek the Musical, performed by WCI High School. A reminder to all students that your forms for this event are due November 21st. If students choose not to attend a trip, they must still attend school that day. Also, on November 22nd, we will have a jersey day! Spirit points will be awarded to students who wear jerseys.

Our school’s breakfast program is an outstanding program that over two thirds of our school participate in. We still need parent volunteers to help with this program. If you are interested in this important role in the school community, you can contact the school at 519-688-3498.

Do you ever wonder what if happening in your son/daughter’s school? If so, you should check the school website, the school sign, school newsletter, or contact their teacher. The lines of communication go both ways, so don’t hesitate to contact the school. Also, if you are interested in joining Parent Council, the next meeting is December 2nd at 6:30 p.m. in the Annandale library.
