Article content

It’s Alexandra here with this week’s Eagle Events!

This week has been quite a busy week for Sacred Heart here in Langton. On Monday, November the 11th, Sacred Heart Students and Langton Public School Students joined together for our annual Remembrance Day Service at Sacred heart Church. It was a great time to remember who has gone to war for our wonderful country. Each school put on a presentation, and Langton Public School had a group of students present a poem in French.

Thank you to Mrs. Pierssens who makes this wonderful service happen each year!

On Wednesday, November 13th, the Grade 8 class visited Holy Trinity High School in Simcoe. They learned all about the school and a little about what choices they will have for their first year’s classes at high school. It was great!

On Thursday, November the 14th a fire crew came to Sacred Heart to give a presentation to our school about fire safety. Students learned a lot!!

Thursday and Friday morning, parents had the opportunity to meet with each of their children’s teachers for a short interview. Students had the day off on Friday as it was a Professional Development Day. Students love four-day weeks!

As students start to think about Christmas, participation in Operation Christmas Child is growing. Students have been requesting ‘Shoe Boxes’ to fill with small toys, books and necessities to make Christmas special for children in need worldwide.

Tune in for next week’s Eagle Events.

November 13

I can’t believe its November already! This school year is going by really fast.

On October 31st, students dressed up in their Halloween costumes or black and orange and participated in Halloween activities. There were seven different games that the Grade 7/8s were running and 14 different teams that the Grade 5/6s were the leaders of. The students really enjoyed the activities, especially the Kindergartens.

This year, again, we are doing Operation Christmas Child Boxes so that kids in other countries that don’t get much for Christmas can have a couple little toys to enjoy. You can fill the box with little toys, pencils, a toothbrush, a colouring book or little hard candies but no food or toothpaste. Even getting things from the dollar store can make a difference to a child. The boxes have to be back to school by November 20th so that they can get to the children on time for Christmas.
