Happy Halloween from O'Neil

Article content

Tomorrow is Halloween, and for O'Neil students that means a whole lot of fun at school!

Not only do we get to put on our costumes and parade around for prizes like Most Unique Costume, we get to do tons more fun activities like the ‘Mummy Wrap.’ We also will get our Monster Mash Moves on during our awesome Halloween dance.

Of course, after school, all students and children everywhere will get to dress up in their costumes, knock on every door in the neighbourhood, and get TONS of CANDY! Mmm… CANDY!

Monsignor O'Neil hopes everyone has a safe and happy Halloween. Remember to stick with friends or family you trust, check over the candy (or have an adult check it over) before you eat it, watch for cars, and stay in well lit areas... and of course, have lots of SPOOOOKY Halloween FUN!

Grade 5 students in Ms. Mair's class prepared for Halloween by making Pumpkin Mummies last week. Each student got a pumpkin, wrapped it like a mummy, and decorated it with creepy, spooky details, like spiders and googly eyes. They had a spooktacular time!

Students and Staff at Monsignor O'Neil would like to thank Kelsey's Restaurant for donating 20% of its proceeds from Tuesday night to us. We also thank everyone who participated by going to Kelsey's; I am sure you enjoyed some of the delicious food choices Kelsey's has to offer while supporting our school... what a great - and yummy - way to raise money!

Don't forget to order your "O'Neil Wear"! Order forms went out last Wednesday. There are so many great choices: T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, Dazzle Shorts, Full zip Hoodies and, Hooded sweatshirts.

Plus you get to choose many pieces of clothing you order in our school colours, grey, black and forest green. O'Neil Wear is great to have for all of our school spirit events, track and field, sports, Dance Fest, and not to mention gym class.

We as students should show we have pride in our school when we go to these events, after all, we DO have the best School Spirit in the LDCSB area... RIGHT?!?

Students have been getting their teeth checked at school by the Oxford County Public Health. If you received a notice saying you need to see a dentist but are unable to afford one, then don't worry because there are free dental programs for kids up to age 17. Healthy Smiles covers regular visits to a licensed dental care provider. This program offers almost everything, including X-rays, fillings, cleaning and more. For more information about this FREE dental program called Healthy Smiles, just call Public Health at 519-539-9800 or 1-800-755-0394 extension 3510 or you can visit the website at www.oxfordcounty.ca/dental.

Students: save your allowance, beg for money from your parents, rake your neighbours leaves, because next week the BOOK FAIR is COMING!! So many books to choose from and such good prices, how many books will you buy?
