Freak Show's farewell

Article content

The Freak Show bid a victorious farewell to the ring at the Classic Championship Wrestling Halloween Show Saturday evening at the Tillsonburg Legion.

The area’s most popular grappling hero may have headed off into wrestling’s equivalent of a sunset on a high note, but retiring as CCW Heavyweight Champion required significant effort and pain through a three-bout gauntlet match featuring Killer Allan Coulter, Reck and finally and fittingly, the ‘Bane’ of his existence, Dangerboy Derek Wylde in the guise of the Batman-genre supervillain.

‘The Show’ required every bit of his martial arts expertise, positive energy from his supporters and finally a crowd-pleasing fireball to ultimately defeat the triple-threat legion of doom assembled by sometime nemesis Evilyn.

Gracious in victory, Freak Show called Evilyn into the ring, surprising all assembled with a hug, rather than blows for his former archenemy, who joined the referee in raising ‘The Show’s’ arms in a shared salute to a true champion.

Freak’s emotional farewell speech included special thanks to his family, CCW owner/promoter Jay McDonald and finally, his fans.

“I’ve got a hug for all of you on your way out tonight,” ‘The Show’ concluded.

Match 1 - Opening Contest

Skeletor defeated Super Mario via pinfall.

Skeletor stated at the opening of the match that he had sent He-man into another dimension and that he required an opponent for the day.

Super Mario accepted the challenge and brought with him a few special Mario ? Bricks. The first one he utilized was filled with banana peels which tripped up Skeletor and his evil plan. In the end however Skeletor cheated

to win as usual and took the bout via pinfall.

Match 2 - Titled "Halloween Costumes??? We dress like this every day.

Match 4 - Ladies Match

Wonder Woman defeated Evilyn via pinfall.

Evilyn brought her Jake "the Snake" inspired bag with her to ring side.

After a great back and forth Ladies match up Evilyn hit Wonder Woman with her finisher the Choke Bomb. Instead of going for the pin Evilyn went to her

Snake Bag and pulled out a Fake Plastic Cobra which she threw onto Wonder Woman. Evilyn turned to laugh at the crowd and as she turned Wonder Woman

clocked her in the face with said plastic snake and knocked her out cold.

She awoke to Wonder Woman placing a real snake on top off her in the centre of the ring, much to the crowds delight.

Match 5 - Titled "Holy, Howl at the Moon - Batman!"

Werewolf defeats Batman via pinfall.

The Werewolf made his way to the ring in his human form but after a dose of moonlight he rolled under the ring and reappear in full creature form.

Batman looked to have the match in hand and the Werewolf on the ropes when Scarecrow ran in and tossed Fear Powder in Batman's eyes. This allowed the

Werewolf to bite attack Batman and take the victory.

Match 6 - Title " The battle of the undefeated green monsters."

Incredible Hulk defeated Frankenstein via pinfall.

Hulk said he was going to SMASH and he did. He smashed Franky from one end of the ring to the other until he finally got the puny monster to stay down
