Langton area skaters ready to wow the judges

Article content

The costumes are ready, the music is ready, and the choreography has been polished.

Tonight at 7 p.m. in the Langton Arena (Tuesday, Oct. 29), 10 pairs of Langton area skaters consisting of Langton Skating Club skaters and their hockey-playing partners will each try to wow three local judges -- Norfolk Mayor Dennis Travale, Ryan Vandenbussche and Sheri Bradshaw -- with their 90-second Mini Battle of the Blades routines. The winning pair will advance to an online voting stage against winners from other regions across Canada, leading to one grand prize winning pair who will attend the CBC Battle of the Blades finale in November.

The community is invited to attend tonight's show. Admission will be a donation to the Langton Skating Club's Mini Battle of the Blades competition. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to KidSport, which provides financial assistance to children in Norfolk allowing them to play organized sports.

Final touches were applied some of the routines Monday afternoon in the second of two dress rehearsals. In these photos are: Gillian Darlington and Jon Kozicki, Ainsley Toth and Luca Meyer, Danielle Vanacker and Stefan Vandendriessche, Paige Vandendriessche and Jordan Vanacker, Hailey Burger and Ryan Jamieson, and Abby LeBouthillier and Guerin Greenfield.

Also competing tonight are: Abby Koot and Maddox Callens, Danica VanHaverbeke and Kieran Gubesch, Rachel Toft and Jesse Reimer, and Jennifer VanDeWiele and Alex VanDeWiele.
